The Adams Central Girls Golf team turned in a performance for the history books Tuesday evening at Wabash Valley Golf Club, setting not one, but two new school records in their match against Bluffton. With steady composure and crisp shot-making, the Lady Jets posted a nine-hole team score of 185, breaking the previous record of 190 set in 2024 against South Adams. The win came against a strong Bluffton varsity squad that finished with a 190. Sophomore Londyn Smith led the charge with a sparkling 35, a new school record for lowest individual nine-hole round. Smith’s round was a showcase of consistency and poise, finding fairways and rolling in key putts at the right moments. She was backed by solid contributions from the rest of the varsity squad: Lily Johnson’s 47, Adrienne Johnson’s 51, Tenley Hendricks’ 52, and Sophie Johnson’s 62. The JV team also gained valuable experience, with Mel Eicher carding a 60, Isabelle Hammond 66, and both Claire Arner and Rylee Hammond finishing at 72. Claire and Isabelle are newcomers to not only the team, but to golf in general, and both played impressively in their first competitive round. Bluffton’s team was the epitome of class throughout the evening, showing great sportsmanship and respect for the game in what proved to be a memorable night for both programs. Tuesday’s record-setting effort reflects the growth and depth of this year’s team. With a blend of returning talent and emerging players, the Lady Jets have not only shown they can compete, but that they can set a new standard for Adams Central golf.
