Adams Central Defeats Bluffton In Pitcher's Duel for Sectional Title

Both teams were strong on the mound on Monday, but Adams Central Jets defeated the Bluffton Tigers 3-2. Cade Van De Weg started the game for Adams Central Varsity Jets and recorded 22 outs. Bluffton opened the scoring in the sixth after Cameron Williams doubled, scoring two runs. Adams Central tied the game in the bottom of the sixth thanks to a sacrifice fly by Hayden Bluhm, and a double by Jacob Miller. Jami Roach earned the win for the Flying Jets. The hurler allowed zero hits and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking none. Dawson Lee took the loss for Bluffton Varsity Tigers. The hurler went two and one-third innings, allowing one run (zero earned) on two hits, striking out two and walking four. Van De Weg stepped on the mound first for AC. The pitcher allowed five hits and two runs over seven and one-third innings, striking out seven and walking three. Colton Arnold stepped on the mound first for Bluffton. The starter allowed four hits and two runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking four. Miller and Bluhm were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for the Flying Jets while hitting back-to-back. Miller and Bluhm were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Adams Central. AC had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Joey Everett and Ethan Funk led the team with two bases on balls each. Williams led Bluffton with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Arnold, Trevor Smith, Easton Blair, Williams, and Abram Gehrett each collected one hit for the Tigers.
