In a thrilling display of skill and determination, the Adams Central Jets Golf Team clinched victory at the ACAC Tournament held at Celina Lynx Golf Club. The Jets emerged as champions with a team score of 355, narrowly edging out their Adams County rivals, South Adams, who finished with a score of 357. The tournament, which showcased intense competition among the top golf teams in the area, culminated in a dramatic finish. The average score for golfers on the day was 95, but the Jets consistently outperformed this benchmark, with all members scoring 94 or less. Leading the charge for Adams Central was Drew Johnson, who posted an impressive team-low score of 85. Johnson’s stellar performance not only contributed significantly to the team’s triumph but also earned him a tie for 5th place overall and a spot on the First-Team All-Conference. Avery Biberstine followed closely with a commendable score of 87, while Jayden Sharpe added to the team’s success with a score of 90. Keaton Bush carded a 93, and Max Hamilton rounded out the team’s efforts with a solid 94. Biberstine, Sharpe, and Bush’s performances were strong enough to secure them positions on the Second-Team All-Conference. Senior Jayden Sharpe reflected on the day’s big win, stating, “Conference is one of the biggest accomplishments that we can achieve, and finally winning it as a senior is a surreal feeling.” The narrow margin of victory highlighted the competitive spirit and talent present in both the Adams Central and South Adams teams. The Jets’ consistent scoring under pressure proved to be the deciding factor in their victory. Coach Nick Smith praised his team’s hard work and dedication, stating, “This tournament could have gone any direction for all 7 teams in a tough day of golf. This victory is a testament to the countless hours our players have put into their game. Each on— -of them stepped up when it mattered most, and I couldn’t be prouder of their performance today.” With this victory, the Adams Central Jets have set a high standard for future tournaments and have firmly established themselves as a formidable force in high school golf.
