Adams Central Varsity Flying Jets won big over Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian 12-5 on Friday. AC got on the board in the first inning after Ethan Funk doubled, scoring one run. Knudson singled down the right field line, which helped Blackhawk Christian tie the game at one in the bottom of the first. In the bottom of the third inning, Blackhawk Christian went back into the lead after Adams Central committed an error, Wood grounded out, and Funk balked, each scoring one run. The Jets flipped the game on its head in the top of the fourth, scoring five runs on two hits to take the lead, 6-4. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Lawson Deathe that drove in one. Funk earned the win for Adams Central. The starter surrendered two hits and four runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking three. Ellington took the loss for Blackhawk Christian. The pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, surrendering eight runs (five earned) on six hits, striking out five and walking 10. Joey Everett pitched two and one-third innings of no-run ball for the Flying Jets in relief. The pitcher gave up one hit, striking out two and walking three. Colston Pruitt and Everett were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected two hits for Adams Central. Pruitt led AC with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-4 on the day. Jacob Miller paced Adams Central with four walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying 15 walks for the game. Ellington, Bainter, and Knudson each collected one hit for Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian. Bainter and Knudson each drove in one run for Blackhawk Christian. Sheldon led Blackhawk Christian with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Blackhawk Christian turned one double play in the game. Next up for Adams Central is a Sectional game against Woodlan on Wednesday.
