The Adams Central Boys Golf Team continued its impressive upward trajectory on Friday, May 23, finishing 2nd overall at the ACAC Conference Tournament held at Cross Creek Golf Club in Decatur, Indiana. Competing against some of the conference’s top talent, the Jets posted a team score of 333, setting a new Adams Central 18-hole school record. The varsity lineup consisted of seniors Drew Johnson, Mavrick Becher, Brody Isch, and Coltan Landrum, along with junior Ashton Yergler. After beginning the day with wet conditions and light sprinkles, the weather eventually cleared into a partly sunny afternoon, allowing for improved scoring conditions as the round progressed. Drew Johnson and Mavrick Becher led the way for the Jets, each carding an impressive round of 80. Johnson finished 4th overall while Becher placed 5th, with both golfers earning 1st Team All-Conference honors. Coltan Landrum added an 86 to finish 9th overall and earn 2nd Team All-Conference recognition, while Brody Isch fired an 87 to place 14th overall and also receive 2nd Team All-Conference honors. Ashton Yergler contributed a solid round of 95 to help complete the record-setting performance. Bluffton claimed the conference championship, but Adams Central’s showing demonstrated just how far the program has come. Setting a new school record while placing four golfers on the All-Conference teams showed the continued growth and potential of this Jets squad, and this tournament may be only a glimpse of where the team is headed moving forward.
