Walk-Off Seals The Deal In Adams Central Varsity Victory Over Monroe Central

It came down to the wire on Saturday, as Adams Central Varsity Jets grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 6-5, over Monroe Central. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the 7th when an error scored one run. Monroe Central got on the board in the first inning after Jed Ferguson singled, scoring two runs. Adams Central tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a single by Colston Pruitt, and an error. The Flying Jets took the lead in the bottom of the second. Jacob Miller hit a solo home run to left field, to give AC the lead, 3-2. Alex Middleton grounded out, which helped Monroe Central tie the game at three in the top of the third. A single by Max Byerly gave Adams Central the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the third. Monroe Central took the lead in the top of the fourth inning after Carson Siekmann flew out, and Levi Pence laid down a sacrifice bunt, each scoring one run. Adams Central Varsity Jets captured the lead, 6-5, in the bottom of the seventh after Miller walked, and Monroe Central committed an error, each scoring one run. Joey Everett earned the win for AC. The reliever allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out seven and walking none. Carter Morris took the loss for Monroe Central. The pitcher went six and two-thirds innings, surrendering six runs (four earned) on 11 hits, striking out six and walking one. Lawson Deathe started the game for AC. The hurler surrendered four hits and four runs over three innings, striking out one and walking five. Adams Central amassed 11 hits in the game. Miller led Adams Central Varsity Flying Jets with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. The second baseman went 2-for-3 on the day. Jami Roach went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Jets in hits. Pruitt, Everett, and Byerly each collected multiple hits for AC. Ferguson led Monroe Central with two runs batted in. The second baseman went 1-for-2 on the day. Isaac Middleton and M Dliphant each collected two hits for Monroe Central.
